Passage To India

Passage To India is a family owned and operated restaurant in North Naples serving Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, as its full name, The Taste of Bangladesh, suggests. The cooking traces back to recipes from Borhan Ahmed's mother, kept in a recipe book handwritten in Bengali. Each morning the kitchen toasts and grinds whole spices such as cumin, coriander and mustard seeds for that day's cooking.

The signature lamb and beef biryanis are marinated for 24 hours in a blend of 23 spices, then layered with rice, sealed with dough and cooked in the traditional dum method. The menu also includes vindaloo, creamy korma, chicken tandoori, tikka masala, a mustard-infused fish curry made with local Florida catch, and naan baked in clay ovens. It suits a relaxed dinner or an easygoing catch-up with friends.
